Dublin, Wednesday, 19th March, 2014: The National Sports Campus Development Authority (NSCDA) has implemented a shared services cloud computing based platform which will cut the costs of ICT (Information & Communications Technology) for 19 Irish sports governing bodies. The infrastructure and support service has been implemented by specialist Irish owned cloud services and support company, Auxilion, following a government e-procurement tender.
The NSCDA is responsible for the National Sports Campus at Blanchardstown and the Irish Sport HQ which accommodates the administrative headquarters of 19 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of Sport in Ireland.
The contract, valued at €107,000 for the initial roll-out, has given a major collective saving compared to governing bodies pursuing individual suppliers. The shared services platform is now available to the 19 governing bodies (80 staff), based out of the Irish Sport HQ and covering a wide range of sports from archery and badminton to Paralympics and table tennis. More details are available on their website www.nscda.ie/irishsport.php.
“The project has helped the National Governing Bodies achieve savings with an enhanced service. It also helped to initiate the 2011 Programme for Government to promote greater use of e-government, IT shared services and cloud computing,” commented David Conway, CEO, NSCDA. “With the help of Auxilion we were able to implement the project with ease. Instead of the complexity and cost of 19 different vendors we now have one ICT supplier. The service includes the provision of enterprise class cloud based video conferencing designed to reduce travel costs.”
“The NSCDA is a great example of how organisations can harness cloud based shared services not only to cut costs but deliver even better ICT facilities for users,” added Paul Schmitz, Chief Sales Officer, Auxilion.
